Camp Oquista is located in the Adirondack Park of upstate NY on Seventh Lake near Inlet New York. Fondly referred to as 'A poor man's Great Camp' by the father of the current owner, Camp Oquista was built in the style of William West Durrant, designer and developer of camps in the Adirondack Great Camp style, including Camp Uncas, Camp Pine Knot, and Sagamore Camp which are National Historic Landmarks. Camp Oquista is privately owned and has been in the current family since 1968. The camp has a charming main lodge, with seven bedrooms, seven out buildings (a couple of the bedroom buildings now attached to the main lodge), 465' of waterfront, a wonderful large dock, and a lean-to, fire pit and sandy beach. Plus, there are hiking options from the property: Black Bear Mountain with an elevation of 2441' (literally 100 yards up the road) or the lakeside trail to Arnold's Point approximately 1.5 miles round-trip through bordering state land. The town of Inlet is three miles from the camp.

My visit to Camp Oquista was like turning back the time clock. So perhaps as you sit on the front porch of the main lodge, you can set your mind free to imagine times gone by and perhaps slow yourself down to be fully present and also ponder your heartfelt wishes for times to come.

As part of the intention for this weekend, we'll explore in meditative self-inquiry questions that help you embrace the wonderous mystery of life and the power we have to choose a fulfilling path with gratitude and great joy. Yoga, mindful meditation and iRest yoga nidra (deep relaxing self-inquiry meditation) experiences will be offered so anyone can participate. The yoga movement is slow flowing, practical, functional, adaptive and mindful; Ease and comfort is the goal. I hope you will join me. Kindly, Mary Bartel Click here for my bio.

Testimonials:

Thank you for a wonderful weekend. It dovetailed beautifully with many of the things I have been working on personally. It was also interesting for me to observe the growth (evolution) of your practice - especially the integration of breath into poses and the emphasis that so much of yoga is about the connections with the breath (vs. an emphasis on the poses as physical mountains of challenge). It is all such a remarkable journey.

I so appreciate the time and care that you devoted to the preparation of the retreat schedule (and materials and activities) and how the weekend was informed by your intuitive flexibility re: participant needs.

Hope to work with you again!
